MNTASE

MNTASE

Mntase is figurative term derived from the Xhosa language meaning my brother/ my sister. It speaks
of a tenderly love and kindness between siblings, it is not careless to assume that all is well, but
encapsulates the necessity of partnership through life’s difficult challenges.
The Mntase-Chats have been at the centre of Blackboard Africa thinking from since its inception. Mntase  Chats is a major pillar of Blackboard Africa which is aimed at creating a safe space for intergenerational conversations about all things regarding life.hese conversations are targeted at a wider youth audience, reaching out to people from all walks of
life. These chats are lighter, more grounded but speak volumes to the leadership challenge we have
in our region. The reason for calling it Mntase was motivated by need to highlight the importance of
active community development. Conversations between young people and their elders or parents are limited and thus youth turn to the internet and their peers for guidance and advice.Hence, Mntasekhaya chats were born to create an uncensored space for these kind of vital discussions to happen across generational spectrums
These conversations are fresh and exciting as they present both a young and older viewpoint on a variety of topics. This is an opportunity for everyone to have one on one interactions and for direct perspective to what’s really going on with the youth and the problems we are facing. Sometimes all you need is advice from a big sister or brother to avoid making the same mistakes in life.
